White Tiger Facts

White Tigers are not a separate breed of Tiger, but are Bengal Tigers that respond to a recessive gene for white pigmentation. They have blue eyes, a pink nose, and creamy white fur, covered with chocolate colored or black stripes. It is not an albino. An albino has no pigmentation or color.

White Tigers are extremely rare in the wild. The birth rate of white cubs to normal parents is estimated to be only about one in every ten thousand. The white coloration would make the cubs significantly more vulnerable to predators when they are young.
